Brief Answer:
Plantar fascitis. Exercise, medication

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

Thanks for the query.

Your father most likely has Plantar fascitis which is inflammation of the thick tissue in the foot.

This can also cause calf muscle pain and tightness.

I advise him to keep the foot immersed in warm water with one tablespoon of added salt. This should be done for 15 minutes, twice a day.

Must do Plantar fascia stretching exercises by bending the normal knee forwards with both palms against the wall and the affected foot behind and extended. Hold this position for 1 minute and then repeat on other side as well if any symptoms in other side. Do this exercise for 50 times daily before walking in the morning and before going to bed.

Any cold packs to the painful regions. Sometimes hot packs can provide relief. Do try which works for him.

Take Tablet Ibuprofen 400mg twice a day for 5 days after meals and Tablet Ranitidine 150mg twice a day for 5 days before meals.

Keep the foot flexed upwards towards head end while sleeping by using a foot drop splint at night.

Use MCR Rubber slippers while walking.

Try these remedies and follow up with me on your progress.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
