If your baseline s creat is 1.6 mg/dl and it has jumped to 2.3 mg/dl then the following can be the cause for increased serum creatinine

1. Most often is it due to an infection like an urinary tract infection

2. Dehydration can cause increased serum creat, so does exercise or weight lifting
3. If a new drug of the group called ace inhibitor or arb is addedd, that also can cause increased serum creat
4. Using painkillers, especially of the group called NSAIDs
5. Uncontrolled blood sugars and uncontrolled hypertension can cause increased creat

My dad is having high blood pressure and below is the prescribed medicines he is taking.
I am not much aware of grouping of drugs. I am mentioning below the prescribed drugs with their daily dosage. Could you please let me know which drug might be causing the sudden increase in serum creatine.

1. Nefrozene(1-0-0-1)
2. Shelcal 250(1-1-0-1)
3. Covesyl Plus(1-0-0-0)
4. Urimax-D(1-0-0-0)
5. Roseday F(0-0-0-1)
6. Lasix 40mg(0.5-0-0-0)
7. Mitovit Gold(1-0-0-1)

We have also did USG-Abd(KUB) test. Both kidneys having normal size and position. Also test report mentions that there is mild scarring on both kidneys.

Thanks for getting back with details.

Tab Coversyl plus is an ACE inhibitor which should be ideally stopped when the serum creat is going higher at rapid pace.
If I were to be your doctor I would do the following things

1. Stop Coversyl in view of acute on chronic kidney disease
2. Get a urine routine done to look for infections
3. If no cause is found then a biopsy of the kidney is essential to know the acute event.
