What Causes A Small White Lump On The Tongue?

Question: I have a small white lump on the edge of my tongue, it just showed up or I didn't noticed it until today -- sort of looks like a white head -- any reason to be concern? XXXXXXX

appears to be a mucus retention cyst

Detailed Answer:
This is usually due to blocked duct of a gland from trauma, noticed or unnoticed. It may subside spontaneously in few weeks. Antiseptic preparations can be applied locally.

Please get it examined by an oral surgeon, as it may require excision surgically if not resolving.
