Brief Answer:
its has got infected

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HealthcareMagic.

You might be having a sebaceous cyst on your arm.

It is initially soft and as it grows it gets hard. And as it is now reddened so it might had got infected.

I would suggest that you show it to a surgeon for a clinical evaluation to confirm the diagnosis and its subsequent excision. Excision is a minor procedure, done under local anaesthesia on opd basis under antibiotic cover.

Hope i have been helpful.

How about bursitis?

Brief Answer:
where exactly is the lump

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It all depends upon the location of the lump.

Bursa are present near the joints. So if you can tell me where exactly is your lump, i will be in a better position to answer your queries. You can even upload a photo of it.

In any case, if it is near the joint, it can be bursitis, but still for confirmation it will need a clinical examination. Redness signifies inflammation due to infection. And as bursa usually communicates to the joint space, so this infection if left unattended may cause great harm including septic arthritis.
