Reddish brown vaginal discharge in a 56 year old woman can be due to postmenopausal senile atrophy of the uterine endometrium, endometrial hyperplasia or carcinoma, or local lesions in the cervix or vagina, including cervical carcinoma.I would like to have the information about your menstrual status (whether postmenopausal or not) and any hormonal intake.
Moreover, you should get a detailed examination by an OBGYN specialist, and get a pap smear, ultrasound and endometrial biopsy, if needed.
