What Causes A Red Itchy Spreading Rash With White Heads On Chest?

Question: Hello. Im a female 37 years of age. I have had good skin all me life a few spots on my face as a teenager and no acne in the family. For the last few months I have started to break out in a red rash on my chest spreading upwards and downwards onto my breasts which is red and also can have tiny white heads going through it. I went to my local pharmacy and the pharmacist thought it looked bacterial and prescribed daktarin 2% cream. It works almost instantly and within 2 days the entire rash disappears. However a week to 2 weeks later it returns and I commence the cream application. I am now out of the cream and don't know what is the best way forward. The rash is inflamed today and looks angry red with tiny white spots, it also feels quite hot. Can you please advise? Thanks.

As per details, the most likely possibility for your symptoms is bacterial infection of skin called Folliculitis. In such cases, I prefer to advise topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin 2 percent over the affected area. In severe cases, oral antibiotics are also given like cloxacillin.

I would advise you to upload images of the rash so that I can actually visualize the rash and give you advice accordingly.
