Brief Answer:
not a known side effect

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

No, this is not a known side effect of this medication.

It is likely an evolving infection of a hair follicle or gland in the skin. These are easily treated in most persons

Though there is no head or pus at the moment , this may develop over the next few days.
The warm compress should be continued but the cold compress should be stopped.
This should be applied for 15 to 20 mins, 2 to 3 times a day.

In addition the use of magnesium sulphate paste along with a topical antibiotic may also help.
The magnesium sulphate paste/cream helps to bring infections to a head so that they can discharge.
Topical antibiotics would be available over the counter and can be used twice daily

It is possible that he may need oral antibiotics as well and depending on the size of the lesion as it develops, his doctor may need to incise it in the office so that it can drain completely if pus develops.

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
