Question: Beginning approx 2 months ago my husband developed a raised, white looking rash with extremely swollen lymph node, the rash and swollen lymph node spread to the other in the axillary area. Today he has developed swollen lymph node in his left groin area w/out a rash. The areas seem tender to the touch. He has no other obvious symptoms of possible infection and or medical issues.

Brief Answer:
Rash likely to be fungal

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms,

The rash which your husband had is likely to be Tinea Versicolor: Fungal infection of the skin. It usually involves the body folds like axilla and groin.
The rash responded to nystatin(anti-fungal) further strengthens the diagnosis of T Versicolor. Secondary bacterial infection of axillary fold can cause enlargement of lymph nodes.
As you mentioned that groin lymph nodes which are tender(denotes active inflammation), in the absence of redness/erythema of overlying skin denotes mid inflammation. The nodes could be involved usually due to any lesion of genitals or lower limb.
Is there any discolouration of groin folds ?
Is there itching in groin?
any urinary complaints?

I would advise you the following
1. Antibiotics: 5 day Ciprofloxacin will be helpful
2. Hot water fometation
3. Analgesic like Ibuprofen will be helpful in relieving tenderness.

In case the swelling persists, consult your Physician for further assessment.

Take Care
