    What causes a pale dark patch on the forehead after a fall?

Question: My 6month old son fell from the bed onto marble floorings. I could not see him falling but when I reached the spot he was crying, lying face up on the floor. After a brief period of intense crying, he went back to normal and has been fully active and playing for the last 24hrs. But now I'm noticing a pale dark patch on his fore head, he is still active and normal, hasn't vomited or shown any other symptoms. But small patch which came more than a day later has got me worried, does this mean he actually fell on his forehead even when I found him lying face up? Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm attaching a pic, please take a look and suggest.

Brief Answer:
Not a cause for concern.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query carefully and understand your concerns. I have checked the attached image. It does not seem to be something worth concern. The patch seems to be due to the local injury caused.

The ominous signs of head injury are:
* Vomiting
* Severe headache
* Altered consciousness or Loss of consciousness
* Convulsions

Unless any of these are present you need not worry. If such a thing ever develops, you would need to get a CT scan of the brain done. Since the child is otherwise active and playful you need not be concerned about.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
