What Causes A Painful Lump On The Palate?

default
Posted on Thu, 29 Sep 2016
Question: Hello. I have a very painful hard lump on my pallet. It started out bothering me about 5 days ago and had a burning feeling. It has progressed in pain where my front teeth are numb, my jaw aches, breathing through my nose burns, and I have a terrible headache. I am absolutely miserable. I am trying everything to try to comfort the pain and everything is very temporary relief. I even took a low dose pain pill and it helped for maybe 20 minutes? Please help me figure out what to do...I leave out of the country Monday and I can't see how I will make it as the pain is almost unbearable.

Brief Answer:
Might be cyst or abscess, evaluation is required

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
It will be helpful if you can upload the pictures of it , so that I can provide you with specific advice.
It might be cyst or abscess, might have occurred as result of injury during chewing, but You will need thorough clinical examination of the mouth and tooth and if it is drainable then it might require drainage along with antibiotics coverage after the pus examination for organism.

I would advice you to consult your doctor as soon as possible for diagnosis and prompt treatment.

Meanwhile I would suggest you to do warm salt water gargling few times a day. Along with this take tablet ibuprofen it has both anagesic and antiinflammatory property.

Hope this helps
Take care
