Question: noticed a painful lump below my left ear in my neck at the base of my jaw. Painful when I pressed it and extremely painful when I took my first bite of a sandwich for lunch. Slowly the lump seemed to lessen in size and become less painful throughout the day. It never felt like a solid lump since it seemed to move when pressed on. Now the lump feels gone and the area where it was below my left ear is a little sore. I have never had anything like this before. I am on several medications for HBP and extended release nitro and satin for cholesterol.

Brief Answer:
May be swollen lymph node

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

this is most likely caused by a temporary swollen lymph node. Often this is caused by harmless infections/ reactions of your immune system. Since it is getting better you can wait and see first. If it does not go away i recommend getting this examined by your local gp first.

Best regards
