What Causes A Painful Bruise In The Left Shin?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Apr 2016
Question: I have a lump on my left shin that's about an inch in diameter and is painful to the touch. It feels similar to pushing on a bruise. It moves freely below the surface of the skin and just appeared this evening. Should I be worried?

Brief Answer:
Yes, a thing to be concerned about.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thank for your your query.
To recapitulate: Female/29 - lump on the left shin - an inch in diameter - tender - like on a bruise - moves freely below the surface of the skin - short duration - just appeared in the evening - wants to know whether to be worried ...

1 inch is a large size to be apparent just within short span, that too on the shin and tender and movable under the skin.

Is there any history of trauma?
Any insect bite or anything unusual?

I think it is better to be examined by a Doctor as this is unusual presentation and does not really fit into any known diseases or disorders.
You may please post clear photographs as they sometimes help for on-the-spot diagnosis.

The area is changing. there is dark spot surrounding the lump and the lump is lighter in color. it almost appears white below the surface like a blister. I'm also developing these red marks on my left wrist and left ankle that look like burns but don't hurt. I found the one on my foot because it was itching but it's stopped so I think that's unrelated. I'm going to try to XXXXXXX photos but it's difficult to see in a picture. I'm hoping this new info can help narrow down what it may be.

There has been no trauma to the area and is no marks indicating a bite. Brief Answer:
Looks to be allergic reaction.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your detailed information.
Please try to upload photos, they will give additional help.
Now, the recent development of change in the appearance and the new comers - the red marks on the wrist and ankle and foot indicate that you have got an allergic reaction and you need to take antihistamine and oral steroids if required.

I would also be wise to consult a Doctor as you may need a few tests that he can order after careful examination and you may need some prescription based medicines.
Awaiting your photograph.

Please give the feedback.
