What Causes A Lump In The Left Upper Abdomen Below The Rib Cage?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Jun 2015
Question: Hi! For the past 2 weeks I've been having this weird discomfort in my upper left abdomen, starting a bit below my ribcage. It's not pain, but it feels like a big bubble or mass or something is in my abdomen and it's extremely uncomfortable. What could it be? My bowels have been regular and my appetite is the same. I'm a little freaked out because it feels like something is just sitting in there. Help?

Brief Answer:
Clinical evaluation, examination and investigations as it is 2 weeks now.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
I have read your history and understood the problem. In spite of normal bowel movements and normal appetite, you are feeling a lump in the left upper abdomen below the rib cage for the last 2 weeks; there is discomfort also. You are feeling like a big bubble or mass or something.

In such a case it will be difficult to say what it is.
I would advise you the following:
To get a clinical evaluation, physical examination and investigations.
Tests of blood, urine and stool.
Ultrasonography

These will give the idea whether this is due to kidney or colon and will give idea for further investigations and plan for a treatment.
So in such a situation you need to consult a Doctor.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications or if you feel there is a gap of communication.
