What Causes A Itchy Red Rash On The Scrotum, Dry Flaking Skin And Soreness?

default
Posted on Tue, 31 May 2016
Question: Hello,
For some months I've had a very itchy scrotum, dry flaking skin. I now also have a red rash both sides of my scrotum, in the upper leg crease. I've tried some of the over the counter treatments, but nothing seems to work?
The only thing that relieves the soreness/ itching is E45.

Brief answer....it seems to be fungal infection.
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Welcome to HCM.
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.

Your description of symptoms suggests that you may be suffering from fungal infection.

What to do....
1)Apply local ointment like CLOTRIMAZOLE twice a day ( an OTC product ) for at least two weeks more after your problem clears.
2)Take oral anti fungal medicine like FLUCANAZOLE 150 mg every week for 6 weeks.
3)Wear loose cotton undergarments.

With this treatment you should be substantially improved by next 10 -14 days.
In case there is no improvement even after a two week treatment, then you would need to consult a dermatologist for his expert advice.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.

Best of luck
Thanks
