What Causes A Hard Lump On The Palm?

default
Posted on Thu, 2 Mar 2017
Question: In my left palm at connection to ring finger, there is a hard lump that is only discernible when felt. It is a hard sore knot. It has not grown in three (3) months. I find it bothers me when driving and pressing the wheel, exercising on equipment and caring my purse, etc., Is it a symptom of something else and what is it, should I get it removed? If I would go see a physician for diagnosis, what kind of specialist should I see?

Brief Answer:
Hand surgeon or dermatologist

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Well,it seems to me like fibroma, ganglion cyst or possible subcutaneous wart. In every case,I think that it should be surgically removed since this is located in area of finger flexion and it may cause certain difficulties in future. Rarely,it may be beginning of Dupuytrene contracture. In every case it would be good to see hand surgeon or dermatologist to discuss possible treatment modalities. Wish you good health. Regards
