What Causes A Hard Lump Inside The Throat?

default
Posted on Wed, 26 Oct 2016
Question: I have had hiccups for about 20 hours. I decided to try and stick my finger down my throat to throw up. Inside my throat, pretty deep and on the left side, i felt a hard lump. It is probably half the size of my fingertip. It does not hurt but i was very surprised to feel it. What could this be?

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. First of all inducing vomit with gagging oneself with finger is not recommended way and not wise to try to stop hiccups when there are many ways there to help it. And as far as tha hard lump sensation of size of a finger could merely be some bone , choana or tonsillar pillar you felt . Visit a doctor and let them have a look at yoru throat and see what it is.

Back to hiccups, Mostly hiccups self resolve and are due to some excessive beverages intake or binge intake or acid reflux problem. Breath in a paper bag, gargle with ice water, sip cold water, hold your deep breath and hold it as long as you can. Take some antacid if acid reflux problem, use metoclopramide or chlorpromazine tablets if the supportive home remedies don't help. Visit your doctor and let them further manage it if these still persist.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
