Well, it is one of the chronic complications of Diabetes.
The diabetic Charcot foot is characterized by varying degrees of bone and joint disorganization secondary to neuropathy, trauma, and perturbations of bone metabolism. As a result of these changes the foot is deformed and is in high risk for further complication such as ulcera, infections, fractures ect.
In general is recommended to imobilize it with total casting but your treating physician will recommend it depending on the degree of deformity.
