What Causes A Bump On The Roof Of The Mouth?

default
Posted on Wed, 31 May 2017
Question: hi since last month some times after having or while having food I feel a small bump in roof of my mouth. I took some pictures of it and it look like a cyst or bouble filled with transparent liquid. mostly it lasts for an hour or two, sometime it lasts whole day. I don't feel any pain but it is very discomforting as it is touching my tongue all the time. I have gone to a ENT specialist he first gave me some antibiotics and bcomplex tablets. when it doesn't helped he asked me to show him when it happen. I showed him once then he said nothing to worry about. I also have acidity problem does this have something to do with this.

Brief Answer:
Palatial cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare Magic and thanks for putting up the query
You are probably suffering from a palatial cyst. Best is if you can send me the pictures of the lesion.
It has no relation to gastric acid reflux or acidity.
You should also get a contrast enhanced CT SCAN of the throat done.
Also tell me do you have any regurgitation while you swallow your food?
does the swelling disappear on continuous swallowing?
Any difficulty in breathing on lying down?
Follow up with the required information so that I can suggest you better.
Thanks and regards

does the swelling disappear on continuous swallowing?
It develops while eating and often it takes 2-3 hours to disappear. but sometimes it takes a whole day.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for the pictures.
This is an inclusion cyst of palate. It is a benign pathology. You can get it excised under local anaesthesia and get its histopathological examination done.
This is the only treatment for this.
