What Causes A Bump On The Lower Leg?

default
Posted on Tue, 13 Dec 2016
Question: I've just, in last couple of days, developed a large tender "bump," a swollen area that is hard, on outside of left lower leg about half way between knee and ankle. I wonder what it is, especially if it is serious, a blood clot or something else unpleasant.

When will I receive answer? An earlier note said doctor already working on it. Just a rough estimate of response time would help.
thanks!

Brief Answer:
It could be infected Sebaceous cyst.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
As per your description, it looks an infected sebaceous cyst.
It has no medical treatment.
General surgeon will come to a conclusion after inspection and palpation.
If it is doubtful, I prefer to get an FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology )of the swelling. Exact diagnosis will be known after removing the entire swelling and sending it for histopathological examination (Biopsy).
Please consult a General surgeon, get examined clinically and proceed accordingly.
If possible, please attach the pic.
Hope I answered your query. If you have any questions, I will clarify further.
Wish you good health.

You say it has no medical treatment. So what happens? I live with this forever? It goes away without treatment? Not sure how to proceed. Please advise.
Thanks!
Best wishes.
