Question: Is it normal for the wbc to go from 10.7 at beginning of infection to 3.0 after the infection has cleared up? Should I be worried

How long does it take for the body to make new white cells after they are depleted from fighting a virus?

Brief Answer:
No need to be worried. And it depends.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Yes,it is quite possible or normal that WBC count may get low (below 3000) after getting cured from infection, so there is NO need to be worried.

Also it depends on the severity of infection, type of virus and your treatment

However, usually WBC counts might come to normal within 5 to 15 days means body might take 5 to 15 days to form new white blood cells (time taken by bone marrow to produce new while blood cells)

Hope this answers your query.
