Posted on Mon, 27 Apr 2015
Question: My cardiologist says I have benign PACS and rare pvcs. I notice 8 get them at night before bed and when I wake up in the morning as well. Does this mean they also occur whe I am sleeping? Is this not dangerous?

Brief Answer:
Nothing dangerous to threaten your life during those moments.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX!

As I have explained you before during the periods near sleeping (late at night in the darkness), and early in the morning (when cortisol and catecholamines levels are higher) we are more susceptible of getting easier to anxiety and unpleasant gloomy thoughts. Also our common senses work better when reigns the silence. These are the reasons why you are feeling those scarce ectopic beats. When falling asleep common senses go at rest and your mind and body is relaxing; so the stressful stimuli disappear and the probability of ectopic beats is very low. You have to just relax once again.
KEEP IN YOUR MIND: YOUR SCARCE AND UNIMPORTANT ECTOPIC BEATS ARE NOT DANGEROUS. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THEM!

Best Regards! Dr. iliri

Hi Doctor Thank you for those encouraging words. I was just worried because at night I have some bradycardia around 54 BPM and on holter 41 during sleep. Combined with the etopic beats I thought it was dangerous. Also sometimes I get 8 -10 per minute. Is that ok?

Brief Answer:
I advice you to relax again!

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX! Seems that you have read a lot of information about your concerning issues. I don't believe your ectopic beats are dangerous in any conditions (awake or asleep, whichever it be), as you are structurally normal in all cardiovascular tests already performed. The same is true even with varying numbers of atrial ectopic beats.
I wish you good health! Greetings!

Hi Doctor Thank you for your response. Yesterday was a day full of anxiety. I was under a lot of stress and I appreciate you speaking to me. I noticed I get much more etopic with stress and acid reflux. It's great to be able to speak with a great doctor. Does it matter whether they are pvc or pacs? Are they still benign? I have read many conflicting reports online and I think I scared myself. I am leaving tomorrow for vacation for 5 days and I just want to make sure I am om
