What Cause Swollen Feet And Legs In A Person With Congestive Heart Failure?

default
Posted on Mon, 20 Apr 2015
Question: Just wondering if I could have congestive heart failure. I am 70 years old and a female. I am overweight, and have diabetes. I take medication - glucophage and I have fibromyalgia also. I take a med for high BP and for high cholesterol. I also take tramadol for pain, cymbalta and some others. LOL - I forget sometimes but lately I have had swelling in my feet, ankles and legs. My toenails are very white. Oh, I also have sleep apnea and am on a bi-pap machine for sleeping. I am tired all the time, in too much discomfort most of the time to do anything - hence I am overweight. I haven't asked my doctor about the heart thing. I see her twice a year for med renewals and general checkup. My face flushes all the time also. I'm a mess, and just wondered if the congestive heart failure thing is next for me. Thanks for listening. XXXXXXX XXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about this these various disease conditions and symptoms that you have reported. I understand what it means to deal with these racing thoughts through your mind. I wish you the best. However, we shall never let you walk alone. We shall do all to the best of our abilities to help you get the best possible stye of health given all the available measures.

I have reviewed your information fully. Swollen lower limps and fatigue could be explained by liver failure. However, there are several other disease conditions that present with similar disease conditions like liver disease, kidney disease, etc.

If your next visit is distant, I will like that you call and schedule an appointment to see your doctor for examination and testing. We would need to do a detailed examination and also laboratory tests to help make the exact diagnosis and manage accordingly.

Fr the swollen legs, avoid excess salt intake, do not over drink fluids and try to keep the legs raised whenever possible. This would help reduce the swelling.

I hope this addresses your query fully. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and do feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
