What Cause Hoarse Throat After Rituximab Intake?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 May 2014
Question: I had 2 rounds of 500mg rituximab and 6 rounds of 500mg cyclophosamaide for lupus nephritis last yr n since then find I have a constant horse throat , chest pains that come n go, ear aches, muscle aches and fatigue. Could these symptoms be side affects from the treatment? I now have gout n get acute attacks monthly? Also have warts appearing everywhere. Could they be related to the treatment? I am 36yrs and have had lupus for 20yrs.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Madam,

Thank you for posting your query on HCM.

Well looking into your problem I would like to tell you that it is not related to the drugs that you have mentioned but seem more due to the disease activity of lupus itself . Since I feel there is a strong possibility that you are developing overlap syndrome or the musculoskeletal symptoms of lupus an assessment of disease activity is recommended.

A CPK, LDH , Aldolase ,ESR , Urine r/m along with complement levels is recommended.

Take care.

Dr. Shruti
