Brief Answer:
what's the level?

Detailed Answer:
hi XXXX
Welcome to HCM.
Firstly, what is the level given by the laboratory?
Answering your question,.....
BNP can be elevated in many conditions, the most important being heart failure. Normal BNP negates the diagnosis of heart failure.
BNP should not be interpreted for any reason in any other conditions because it can be simply elevated in old age (>70), hypertension, kidney and lung diseases and has got no importance.
I would recommend you to undergo a cardiac examination. If there is no cardiac dysfunction, you may ignore the elevated BNP.
It can not be lowered if it is not due to heart failure as it could represent normality for your age.
Hope i am clear.
