What Cause Acute Pain In Vagina?

Question: How is vaginismus diagnosed? I'm a virgin and I would like to use tampons, but the pain is almost unbearable and I have to stop attempting to use one almost immediately at first contact. After many years of playing sports, my hymen is no longer intact. I recently went to the obgyn for my very 1st routine visit and the pain was horrible during the exam. I can only imagine that if trying to use a tampon is painful, sex will be extremely painful, if not impossible the first time. If it sounds like it is vaginismus, how can I treat it?

I have gone through your query and Would like to reply in detail as follows:

1. This is not vaginismus. Vaginismus can only be diagnosed during interocourse.

2. No matter how much sports you play hymen may get partially torn but vagina will not be able to accomodate large objects like tampoon initially.

3. Intercourse is a different scenario where there would be good lubrication and insertion might be painful initially only but not later.

4. Hence this is not vaginismus and there is no need to treat the same. Dont worry

Thanks for the advice. This really took a LOT of worry away. As a follow up question, I wanted to know if there is anything that i can do to ease the pain of attempting to use a tampon. I don't have a very high tolerance for pain. I noticed that it wasnt as painful to try when I tried to relax more and not focus so much on knowing that it was going to hurt, but I cant even get the front of the tampon in without having to stop because of the pain from the initialstretch. Is there a way to make this easier?

If tampons are uncomfortable you can avoid them.

If you are using them for menstrual period bleeding just replace with sanitary pads available in market.

If you still wish to use tampons apply sterile water on vagina before using tampons.
