What Casues Migraine?

Question: Striking shots of pain on the right side of the head. I first thought it could be the abcess i have on the right side on the head. but doctor's suggested it cud be migraine. but why does it come on the right and that too with a shock ...its strikes like thunder bolt.

and the doctor asked me to avoid cocoa and coffee, paneer, cheese. And they were right because whenevr i have them , the next day i have these shots of pain. Please help with the real cause and treatment

Thanks for your query.

Migraine in many can be triggered by consumption of above mentioned products.

But its always good to rule out other causes of headache like tumors, neurocysticercosis, calcific spots etc. You may have to get a MRI scan of the brain to rule out the above causes. If the MRI turns out normal then Migraine is considered definitive diagnosis.
