Brief Answer:
More information needed about your symptoms.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your query and understand your concerns.

More information needed about your symptoms, such: -
the time they started? -
how much does the hand shaking happen during the day?
-are the symptoms the same or are more prominent and happen more frequently?
-besides holding objects, are there other situations of hand shaking?
-those symptoms are related only to one hand or both?
-any other medical conditions related to anxiety?
-do you use high amounts of caffeine, energy drinks?
-any previous reports of imaging studies or other medical tests?

Hand shaking is mainly related to small brain disfunction, it is the hallmark of Parkinson's also, but accompanied by other symptoms.

In some people hand shaking is only an exaggeration of normal shaking of most people related to situations, stress, drugs, substances.

Hope this helps. I remain at your disposal for further questions and clarifications.

Best regards.

He does not express symptoms well as he has Down syndrome. I noticed it on occasion but today was very dramatic as he held an iPad...rested in his lap and the whole iPad was shaking. I actually took video of it as it concerned me. He did notice his hands were shaking but did not say anything until after he stopped watching the video. I asked him if it hurt...he said no. He said it feels wrong. I asked him who long it has been happening and he said long time...But with how he views time I have no real idea on how long it has been happening.

Brief Answer:
Most probably neurodegenative disease.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back and thanks for the clarifications.

The most common nervous system age-related involvement in people with Down syndrome is Alzheimer's disease, a neurodegenative disease.

As I said previously, tremor intention or shaking hands when you try to do something with hands, is mainly related to cerebellar ( little brain) damage, in this case most probably by neurodegeneration progression.

There is a genetic disease ( Niemann-Pick disease) that causes liver disease and neurodegeneration by disfunctional metabolism of a part of lipids (sphyngomielin).

There's need for brain imaging studies (MRI) in order to confirm diagnosis.

Hope I helped you. Best regards.
