default
Posted on Tue, 29 Mar 2016
Question: I am having foot surgery in two weeks and was told to go off my Dicloffenac 500 EC 75 which I have been taking 2 times daily. This was Thursday and since Friday I have had the worst head pain all over, bad back pain and just hurting all over. I'm your opinion am I having withdrawals from the medication and if yes, what can I do for it? Thank you for your help.

Brief Answer:
Diclofennac doesn't cause withdrawl symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible.

First of all, it is sad to know what you had gone through. Based on the history you have shared, the symptoms you are facing can be due to recurrence or masking of pains since diclofennac isn't known to cause withdrawl symptoms however dependancy can occur for chronic pains and without it, recurrence of pains may occur which is been initially controlled by its chronic use. If they have suggested to stop it, then you can discus using its alternatives like acetaminophen or Tylenol which you have started already. If pain is still uncontrolled then you can discuss using more potent pain killers like tramadol etc. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a productive surgery. Regards.
