Brief Answer:
It is used to control high BP.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Win XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for posting your query on Health care magic.
Telista (Telmisartan) is an Angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).
Beside the prescribed medication, you need to have certain lifestyle changes to control your high BP like:
1. Reduce your body weight (if you are overweight) by regular exercise
2. Eat a healthy balanced diet (vegetables, whole grains, fruits, poultry, fish, lean meat). Avoid red meat, reduce the dietary salt intake, avoid pickles, papad, potato chips and canned foods.
3. Avoid alcohol (if you consume), smoking and coffee.
Hope the suggestions given above will be effective in controlling your high BP along with the prescribed medication by your doctor.
If you have any follow up query, I shall be glad to answer.
Regards.

Brief Answer:
Initial treatment is usually given for 3-4 weeks

Detailed Answer:
Dear Win XXXXXXX Hi
Thanks for your reply.
In patients younger than 60 years the target for the BP treatment is usually less than 140/90 mm Hg (if the patient has no heart disease, diabetes, or kidney problems).
The initial treatment usually involves use of one drug like Telmisartan which is given for 3-4 weeks, If a patient's goal BP is not achieved within 1 month of treatment, then the dose of the first drug like Telmisartan needs to increased or a different drug is added. Once the target BP is achieved, the treatment should be taken continuously along with lifestyle changes suggested earlier.
Before starting the treatment your physician also recommends you to undergo certain lab tests like fasting blood glucose, lipid profile, kidney function tests, ECG, etc to detect any risk factors for heart disease likde diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, kidney diseases, etc.
Hope I could answer your query.
Best regards.
