What Are The Symptoms Of Pharyngitis?
Question: I think I have pharyngitis. What are the symptoms? I have a bark like cough practitioner all the time. I went from pneumonia to sinus infections my lungs are now clear,but I'm left with horrible annoying constant cough!

Pharyngitis is usually either viral or bacterial (usually strep). For a strep infection the things that are usually present are fever, very painful throat, enlarged lymph nodes in the front of the neck and NO cough. For a viral pharyngitis, you usually have cold symptoms like runny/stuffy nose and minor throat pain.
There are many causes for a persistent cough but it is not unusual to have a persistent cough for up to 6-8 weeks after an episode of bronchitis or pneumonia. This occurs from the irritation of the bronchial tubes and is not a sign of lingering infection. The best things you can do for this are to stay well hydrated and avoid exposure to irritants like smoke and strong smells.
Inhaled medications like albuterol or ipratropium that could be prescribed by your doctor helps in some cases. Cough drops can also be used. This should resolve on its own if there are no complicating causes like allergies or reflux disease.
