Brief Answer:
Such symptoms can occur due to depression. To confirm diagnosis evaluation by a psychiatrist is advised.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries.

The symptoms you have mentioned like lack of interest in anything or anhedonia, remaining alone at home, irritability, missing appointments etc., can occur due to underlying mood episode possibly depression. Lack of interest, anhedonia, poor social interaction, doing nothing etc., are common symptoms of depression. To confirm diagnosis evaluation by a psychiatrist is advised.

Tiredness, easy fatiguability, lack of energy, poor non refreshing sleep, low mood etc., are other associated symptoms of depression.

I would advise you to ask him to follow some life style changes-

- Sleep for at least 7 hours a day. Excess sleep also cause negative effect.

- Ask him to increase Vitamin B12 supplementation through food or by pills. Curd, milk, eggs, animal foods etc., are rich source of B12.

- Supplements containing Omega 3 Fatty Acids also help in reducing such symptoms and help in improvement.

- Try not to confront him on any issue. Don't poke him again and again for his symptoms.

- Alcohol, smoking should be avoided completely.

- If symptoms persist even after life style changes consult a psychiatrist for treatment.

Thanks, hope this helps you. Please feel free to ask any further clarifications, if any.
