What Are The Symptoms Of Colon Cancer?

default
Posted on Thu, 7 May 2015
Question: I am obsessively worried about colon cancer. Had a negative colonoscopy more than 10 years ago,and followed up with four FIT tests, all negative.
Still I worry all the time. So I get up early in the morning, often 1AM and try to generate a feeling to go, and it usually works, but lately I have noticed I have to go again in a few hours, with a much smaller movement that relieves gas I feel. Never any bleeding or mucuos, no bloating, not tired, never any blood. I

Brief Answer:
detailed below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I read carefully your query.

Symptoms that may raise the suspect of colon cancer might be recently change in bowel habits like constipation or diarrhea that persist, weight loss, fatigue, blood in stools.Mostly these are symptoms of an advanced stage because in early stage ,colon cancer can be asymptomatic.
For this reason ,screening tests are used widely to diagnose colon cancer in early stage.
So your pattern of bowel movement can be normal and doesn't indicate a specific problem in the absence of other symptoms.

The guidelines for colorectal cancer screening tests beginning at age 50 include :-Colonoscopy every 10 years.
-FIT every year

If it has been more than 1 year since the last FIT ,you should get a recent test done.If it is negative ,then you have nothing to worry about .
If it is positive you need to do a colonoscopy.
Since your last colonoscopy was done before 10 years ,it would be time for the next colonoscopy.

Hope it helps.
Let me know if you have any question or doubts to clarify.I would be happy to help.
