What Are The Symptoms Of UTI?

default
Posted on Mon, 26 Oct 2015
Question: So I think I have a UTI. I started getting a cramp like feeling in my abdomen about a week ago and I needed to pee literally like every 5 minutes. And it would feel like I was about to pee on myself but when I would go to pee barely anything would come out and it would burn when I peed. The only way I think I could have gotten this is from having sex in a pool with my boyfriend, is that possible? Also I started taking some cranberry extract pills and since then the cramping has stopped and I don't feel like I have to pee on myself as badly as before, however it still burns when I pee and now when I wipe I have a brown discharge. I'm kind of scared because I don't want this to be something worse. I also just started bleeding and it burns a lot when I've been peeing. My period is not due for another two weeks.

Brief Answer:
UTI is very likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxx and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist, i can fully understand your concern.
UTI is most likely in your case, going by the symptoms you're describing.
You need to get a proper examination, done by a qualified Urologist.
Then you need to do certain tests like urine routine and culture to confirm UTI.
Till reports are available, you may start a Ciprofloxacin tablet, twice daily.
Drink 10-12 glasses fluids daily.Taking an alkalizer syrup, twice daily also helps.
You are advised to check your blood sugar, creatinine, and have an ultrasound scan of abdomen done. If you've had sex with more than partner, check for STD also.
If these reports are normal, there's nothing to worry at all.
Avoid sex till the bleeding and discharge, stops completely.
Wish you well.

What can I do if going to the doctor isn't an option for me? Are their any over the counter drugs that I can take?
