What Are The Side Effects Of Roxanol?
Question: I took 80mg of roxnol (liquid morphine) I do not live anywhere near a hospital I am just wondering if I should call 911 or be looking for any side effects? I have a very high opiate tolerance, and I am supposed to take roxnol for my breakthrough pain every 4 hours so in 4 hours should i take my regular 30mg?

I totally understand your concerns & agree that you are having a high opiate tolerance.
Since you have taken 80mg which is pretty high side effects might be likely.It is important to watch for-
a)Increased heart rate
b)Breathlessness
c)Excessive drowsiness.
I would suggest to call 911 if you have any of the above.
The fact that you have been prescribed roxnol is to relieve of your intense pain.Morphine should be taken at a dose which will relieve your pain and at the same time donot cause ill effects such as increased heart rate, breathlessness and altered consciousness.So I were to titrate Roxnol starting from 10mg to 30mg/4 hours(every three days) and continue at the dose which would give adequate pain relief(without affecting your alertness).
Thus I would rather assess the right dose for your pain by starting at 10mg instead of directly starting at 30mg.
