What Are The Side Effects Of Mobic?

default
Posted on Wed, 19 Oct 2016
Question: Hello,
My doctor gave me a prescription for mobic 15 mg for severe lower back pain caused by a small tumor pressing on nerves. I am afraid to take it. I do get shots in my back and the medication has stopped working. I take two extra strength tylenol and a couple of hours later 3 advil so I can try to sleep, but it does not help much.
Are there side effects of mobic? Is it like take very strong advil and will I still be able to work and drive?

I was also given neurontin, but told there were very severe side effects with that.

I am in lots of pain and do not know what to do!

Thanks,
XXXX

Brief Answer:
Explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Mobic (meloxicam) is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Its a safe medication and doesn't have any significant interaction with the Neurontin or Tylenol. It can replace the advil and be taken as the alternative, more potent NSAID. When taking prolong course of NSAIDs, a PPI like esomprazole should be prescribed in addition to reduce the possibility of NSAID induced gastritis. Neurontin is an excellent medication in such spine related pain. The advantages outweigh the side effects as it will likely give you significant pain relief.

Wishing you best of health

Thanks
