Question: what are the side effects of the med levofloxacin 500 mg.? I am 67 and have bronchitis. Have been taking this for 5 days. Is there an alternative to this? Should I quit taking this med? Suppose to take it for 5 more days

Dear XXXX, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns. since the medication was perscribed by your doctor then the benefit from using it sure exceeds the risk of this medication.. levofloxacin is a drug that has a wide range of serious side effects especially in age above 60 years.. you should continue the perscribed course as long as you did not experience any of the warning signs. the warning signs include 1) joint, tendon or muscle pain or swelling 2) heart beat irregularities 3)muscle weakness 4) tremors, insomnia, persistent headache 5) numbness 6) fever, vomiting 7) dark colored urine 8) severe diarrhea

Since I have taken this medication, I do have swelling of my left ankle . I also have stress incontinence and my incontinence has increased. Is this the result of this medication. Should I stop it or continue until I can consult with my primary doctor?
