Question: a patient was given dose of hydromorph from ampoule. right dosage but from ampoule not liquid. ? ordered po no liquid in dd cupboard. checked by both nurses. any side effects to be concerned about

Hydromorphine is an opioid used mainly for analgesic purpose in cancer pain patients. It is available in powdered and liquid form. Powdered form to be reconstituted with sterile water in defined concentrations. The side effects vary from delirium to CNS depression also prone for dependence. Kindly mention me the dose which was given to the patient and why was this chosen?

My father 88 admitted with UTI, and delirium. Seroquel used initial dose 50 mg pm and 25 mg am then increased to 75 mg in pm maintaining 25 mg am. He is very drowsy and having difficulty swallowing. He can not eat. Wouldn t it be wise to decrease dose?

I have IBS and recently had my gallbladder taken out. The dr said the gallbladder was not functioning. Upon taking it out he said it appeared leathery, hard, etc. Well a few weeks after my liver enzymes increased i had chills,rash,night sweats, delirium from this. GI doctors didnt know what was wrong with me. I dont drink, nor do i have any form of hepatitis. So im having an e.r.c.p done this week. Dr thinks its the sphincter of oddi. Yes...My husband is in the hospital for a blot clot behind his knee. He has been there since 4/15/14. When they moved him from ICU, he became delirius. He went to the Dr. the day before he entered the hospital for his bad teeth. They were going to pull them, then this happened. They are rotten and he will not eat anything. Could bad teeth have an effect on delirium?He is on antibiotics right now, but can t kick the delirium.3 weeks. Please help! They did a cat scan and eeg and showed nothing.
