Brief Answer:
Yes valerian can be taken with benzodiazepines

Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related doubts

I can understand your concern. Coming directly to your doubts. Valerian roots or tea are known to cause their effects in a mechanism similar to actions of benzodiazepines. So taking these substances with Valerian will not cause any serious effects. No need to worry. Excessive sedation might occur but that can be managed by starting with low doses.

Diazepam is a long acting benzodiazepine drug. The drug is a safe drug and is free of serious see effects. Dependence and high abuse potential are common adverse effects and this is the reason these drugs should be taken for less than 4 weeks regularly. Dizziness, sedation, nausea, sleepiness etc are common side effects. So long term side effects of the drug are high dependence potential, development of tolerances etc. Try to use the drug on SOS basis and this will prevent any development of anxiety.

Thanks, Hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts. TAKE CARE
