You have recently been taking or will be taking clonidine for blood pressure. Apparently other medications have caused insomnia with your and you are hoping that clonidine will not. Good news is that high on the list of side effects of clonidine is somnolence or an increase in sleepiness. This should help your sleep issues. Other side effects will include increase risk of depression, low blood pressure, slow heart rate nausea, irritability, constipation, dry mouth and possible sexual dysfunction.

Other medications that may not cause insomnia are; valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, lisinopril, atenolol and hydralazine.

I am actually surprised that you should have so much trouble with insomnia from your blood pressure medications.
