Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: hi, we have given an overdosage of Domstal medicine to our baby of 7 weeks for 2 weeks. We were supposed to give 1mg/ml dosage of 1 ml 3 times a day. However, we have given 10mg/ml dosage of 1 ml 3 times a day. We spoke to the doctor and he said don't worry as there are no visible symptoms of side-effects and the baby is thriving well. The only tHe has now asked us to stop giving Domstal for a couple of days

Very worried with the over-dose, Would it have caused any long term damage?

Brief Answer:
need blood tests

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
I don't agree with your doctors opinion.
The dose you have given is very high and prolonged.
I suggest you take him to a pediatrician as soon as possible.
High dose domperidone can cause liver injury and can cause arrhythmia too.
Get blood count, liver function test and renal function test along with ECG.
If everything is fine no need to worry.
Wishing your child speedy recovery.
Regards
Dr Arun
