Question: Hi! I have question about my 3.5 years old. He ate accidentally some chicken that was raw in the middle. He probably ate little less than half of it by the time I noticed because we got them from store. The part he ate was better cokked but still he might have had some bites that were raw or partially raw. I am very worried because he seems to have weak stomach and have had several stomach viruses this year. Is there something I can do? what symptoms to watch out for ? How to keep him away for more severe reaction? Thank you so much

Brief Answer:
can't do much...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

eating undercooked meat may increase the risk for gastrointestinal tract infections like salmonellosis. In most cases nothing happens though! Please take into account that Salmonella requires only about 20 seconds at 74 degrees of Celsius to be eliminated, while the food requires much more time to be properly cooked, so you shouldn't worry too much.

At this point, you can't do anything. If your son develops symptoms of gastroenteritis like fever, diarrhea, vomiting you should take him to the pediatrician and don't forget to mention this incident. You can't do anything more, if he has no symptoms.

I hope it helps!
Kind Regards!
