What Are The Repercussions Of Accidental Ingestion Of Similac Alimentum In An Infant?

Question: My 2 month old drank similac alimentum that was sitting out for 8 hours! Help! I found the old bottle in the nursery and got it mixed up with the new bottle I made!

Hi

I understand your concerns but don't worry. Just wait and watch for any signs of illness such as persistent loose poops, vomiting and fever in next 24 hours. Keep him well hydrated by regular feeds and avoid any medications if baby is fine.

In case the baby develops any symptoms as mentioned earlier, then start symptomatic treatment in the form of acetaminophen for fever, Ondansetrone for vomiting and visit your pediatrician for clinical examination. A stool examination and a course of antibiotics will be useful thereafter.
