What Are The Long Term Effect Of Taking Oral Contraceptive?

default
Posted on Fri, 19 Sep 2014
Question: I have been on some form of oral contraceptive since I was 17 (26 now) I Have been on Cilest for the last 6 years, I've recently realised I am a lot more tearful than I used to be before taking the pill. Situations I normally would have been fine with make me want to cry, and I am just overly emotional generally, without really feeling sad. I also find it easier to put on weight than I used to. Does this ever happen after taking a pill for an extended period of time?

Hi dear and thanks for your query.

As you describe two symptoms : both mood changes and weight changes have relation with the use of birth control pill.

More than 1 in 100 people who take Cilest have mood changes and fluid retention.

If these symptoms have change your life and makes you feel bad ,you should consult with your doctor to change mode of contraception .

All the best and be happy
