Brief Answer:
Yes, it may grow fungus

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to the HCM

If the carpet is not cleaned properly, it may lead to foul smell and fungal growth. It can be a risk to health if you have an infant or toddler who puts things or hands while crawling or playing. So, removing the carpet or cleaning it thoroughly is the best option.

Hopefully this will help you.
Take care
