What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy Post Unprotected Oral Sex?

default
Posted on Tue, 9 Sep 2014
Question: Hi,
Me and my fiancee had a oral sex today without any intercourse. I was in my jeans with undergarment beneath and she was also in her undergarments. However she feels that my fluid from my penis might have touched her vagina. So although we know there is a very remote chance of that. But still we do not want any unwanted pregnancy. Can you please suggest some medicine that she can take and also which does not have any side effect.
She has periods due for 27 this month. So will it have any impact on that also if she takes this medicine or any other side effect.

Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
pill mentioned below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM,

Please do not worry at all. As she is due for her period this 27 and if she has regular 30 days period, she is just ending her fertile period. So chances of getting pregnant are very less. Also as there was no intercourse and both of you were dressed so there is no chance of pregnancy at all.

However if you are worried, she can use unwanted 72 one tablet within 72 hours of the act as soon as possible. This is an emergency contraceptive pill that can be taken once in one menstrual cycle if emergency protection is desired. It protects from a single act of sexual intercourse and if acts are repeated then it does not protect. The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, tender breasts and irregular menstrual periods. She may have an early or delayed period after taking the tablet. There is no medicine that will not have side effects.

So please do not worry. The risk is less, but she may take the pill if you are worried.

Hope this satisfies your query.

Brief Answer:
side effects are short lasting.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,

The side effects may or may not occur in every women. The nausea mostly lasts for a day or two and swollen breasts etc may come after a few days and disappear after periods. The nausea is less likely to occur if the drugs is taken after having a good meal.

Most of the time they are mild and simple drugs like ondensetrone tablet may be used to control the nausea. Irregular periods may come at any time either early or later than her expected date.

Hope this helps.

Take care and let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Is there any medicine that does not impact normal period cycle.

If not then how many cycles are impacted and when can she expect to have a normal cycle.

Would you suggest taking it just as a precaution as we do not want to have any other impact on her health for long due to this.

Brief Answer:
answered below.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

The chance of pregnancy after your previous description of things is extremely low and I do not feel that there is a need to use the drug.

It may be taken just as an extra precaution if desired.

The irregular period last mostly for once cycle only. There are no long term effects due to this. There is no other medicine that can be used as an emergency contraceptive.

Hope this satisfies your query.

just another question. how many days will the periods be delayed in the affected cycle. so if her period I'd scheduled for 27 this month and she takes a medicine today then how much the periods will get delayed.

Brief Answer:
cannot predict the delay

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome back,

I have already stated that the period behaves differently in different women depending upon their individual hormonal status. So the cycle may be delayed by 1-2 weeks or even more. Some women experience an early cycle and have bleeding in 3-4 days. So unfortunately this is an unpredictable side effect of the drug.

But even if the period is delayed the patient is protected from pregnancy.

Hope this satisfies your query.
