What Are The Chances Of Pregnancy After Missing Contraceptive Dosage?

default

Question: Question regarding period
Basically I had intercourse with my husband on Saturday the 10th. I forgot to take my active pill the day before (the 9th) I doubled up pills (took two) saturday after intercourse. Per my app I use it stated that my fertile window was the 8th to the 13th. Is it possible for missing one active pill that I could become pregnant? I was taking my pills on time prior to missing the pill on the 9th.

Brief Answer:
It is extremely unlikely that you would conceive in that siguation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Of course the birth control pill is most effective if you take it at the same time every day, but if you follow the package instructions when you only miss one pill, the likelihood that ovulation occurred in that limited time period is extremely unlikely. So you did exactly the correct thing in doubling up as soon as you realized you missed your pill.

So I would just continue your pack as usual until you finish it and if you do not get a period you should take a pregnancy test.

You may spot a little in next few days, this is common after you deviate from the schedule with your pill but does not mean the effectiveness is reduced.

If for some very unlikely reason you get pregnant the ingredients in the pill have no effect on a developing pregnancy.

I hope this information was helpful and that I was able to adequately answer your question. Please do not hesitate to contact me further if you need any additonal assistance.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
