What Are The Chances Of Getting Infection After Using A Unsterile Syringe?

default
Posted on Thu, 8 Sep 2016
Question: Hello doctor. I got my first pap smear test done today and I doubt that the speculum that was used wasn't sterile.... because after using she put it back in the same box from which she had taken it out! Now I am extremely worried that I may contract some infection due to it. Am I at a risk?

Brief Answer:
3 drug kit, vaginal tablets

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Dr. Purushottam welcomes you to HCM virtual clinic!
Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic. I have carefully gone through your query, and I think I have understood your concern. I will try to address your medical concerns and would suggest you the best of the available treatment options.

1.First of all do not panic.

2.Usually a prudent doctor uses all sterile techniques as far as possible.
There can be chance that the box was containing pre sterile speculum, or it can be containing cidex or savlon or formalin tablets.

3. Anyway, I can suggest you to get a prescription for a kit containing Azithromycin 1 gm, Fluconazole 150 mg,Secnidazole 1gm (2Tabs); and Clotrimazole plus Clindamycin vaginal tablets.

Oral tablets to be taken from morning to night , all 4 in one day . And vaginal tablets to be kept vaginanllyfr 6 days.

4.This will take care of cross infection if any.

I hope this answer was helpful to you!
Please kindly rate it as helpful and write a short review about your experience with me! I would appreciate that a lot.
Thank you and best regards!

Brief Answer:
Don't worry if not symptoms. Lactic acid v wash.

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Thanks for appreciating the answer and reverting back.

As discussed earlier if you don't have any abnormal discharge, itching of vagina or burning during urination please don't worry.

You can simply insert the forgotten vaginal tablets and complete the course. No problem even if you have missed it in between.

Also , using Lactic acid containing vaginal wash daily during bath time will be a good and healthy habit

I'm sure this answer clears up your doubts and any your worries.

Thanks.
