What Are The Chances Of Developing Cancer When Exposed To Asbestos?
Question: Around 1967 I worked in a factory that used Asbestos in the manufacturing process. Worked there for about 1 year.
Am concerned about cancer related to Asbestos. No symptoms to date but want to be proactive so if I get this I can treat it from the beginning.

I understand your concern. But your exposure was occupational and lasted only about an year. So your chances of getting Mesothelioma is extremely low.
You can take a baseline chest xray now and follow up. Also do a CRP, an indicator of inflammation. Other tests that may be done are osteopontin and soluble mesothelin-related peptides (SMRPs)
Any symptoms like chest pain in the sides, breathing difficulty, fever, cough etc should not be ignored and you should have yourself examined .
