Brief Answer:
5-7% chances

Detailed Answer:
Hello mam, thanks for trusting health care magic.
Placenta previa can bleed anytime without any precipitating factor and usual chances are about 5-7% in your case because it is a little far from placenta.
There are about 90-95% chances that it will migrate to upper segment till term so will be situated normally.
But in case it persists then there will be higher chance of cesarean delivery excessive bleeding during delivery.
Take due care and and rest as much as possible.
Avoid heavy work or work for long duration and avoid intercourse.
Take care.
Regards.

Thank you, my OBYGN said it will bleed most likely because as uterus grows that area will stretch, but at that time my placenta was around 2cm away from os. How often would you recommend ultrasound to monitor its migration ?

Brief Answer:
lesser chances in your case

Detailed Answer:
Get the next ultrasound at 32-34 weeks which will give you right and final position of placenta and also about fetal growth and position.
Placenta will migrate eventually and as in your case it is still a little far from as so lesser chances of bleeding.
Just take ample rest and avoid strenuous activity.
All the best

So 5-7% of severe bleeding and what percentage approx of small bleeds? Thank you

Sorry at 20 weeks I had 2 days of light brown discharge also

Answered by Dr. Manisha Jain (11 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
higher chance of bleeding

Detailed Answer:
As you have had a bleeding/ spotting episode you have higher chance of major bleeds but that cannot be predicted anyway.
Percentage of major and minor bleed cannot be differentiated but major bleeds are usually less than 50%.
Don't be anxious now and take good care of yourself.
