What Are Symptoms Of Herpes?

Question: A guy had sex with a girl and then said he had a bump appear. he said he busted it then it scabbed over advice when he was in the shower it the scab came off. he then developed a red looking rash and had anal itching abd he said the rash only itched a little. those were his only symptoms. the rash started going away but he went to the clinic and they of course said it could be herpes but were also confused that he had no pain, no burning or anything other than the red looking rash and anal itching. he went to the hospital and they said the same thing but proscribed him some herpe medicine just in case . the rash is gone now and i was wondering is there a chance they are misdiagnosing him or could that be what it is

The exact morphology of rash, distribution, partner history is not clear.
It can be herpes or can be fungal infection or else.
Herpes is known for recurrence. If there is partner history of herpes possibility of herpes is high.He can undergo IGMand IGG test for herpes Simplex 1&2 .Even partner can undergo this test.

what kind of fungal infection do you think, he went and got tested and everything came back negative. this image is the image of when it began to clear up on its own
